Volunteer
Woodside Meals on Wheels is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization and relies on a team of over 100 volunteers to schedule, pack and deliver meals to our clients. We focus on keeping costs low to make our meals affordable to all who need them.
If you are considering giving back to your community and helping our most vulnerable neighbors remain independent in their own homes, we welcome you to join our team. Although most of our volunteer opportunities are for drivers, we also have volunteers who perform work in our office (setting up deliveries for the day) and opportunities to help package our meals.
Drivers pick up meals at Pennswood Village in Newtown, PA at around 10:30 AM and deliveries are complete in less than two hours. Schedules are flexible – most drivers deliver every other week. Packers do their work at Pennswood Village from about 9:30 to 10:30 each morning and often volunteer weekly or every other week. Office workers begin their days at about 8:30 AM and complete their work by noon. They perform a variety of administrative and customer service tasks such as talking with clients and answering questions, setting up new clients, creating necessary paperwork for the daily food order and making sure that all packers and drivers have the information they need to make deliveries.
